Superior Food Brokerage was started in 1973 by Jay Thomas whose previous experience was Vice-President of a large meat packing firm in Maryland. Dave Thomas joined his father in 1986 after working for Smithfield Packing as a regional manager beginning in 1978. In 1986 Superior Food was approached by then President of Smithfield, Mr. George Hamilton, to represent Smithfield in the Mid-Atlantic region. The company continued to grow. Superior Food Brokerage presently employs 21 full time sales personnel and field merchandisers. The main office is located in Bel Air, Maryland with satellite offices in Palmyra, Pennsylvania and Richmond Virginia.
